Artist's Description

I was out hiking along the Kalae Coastline as close as I could get to the ocean without getting splashed all the while keeping my eye on a storm off in the distance behind me. The clouds were getting heavier and darker and I was getting farther and farther from our car not willing to give it up after finally getting to visit South Point. I was fully expecting to get drenched but then the sun broke through the clouds, it was almost as if the angels sang!

South Point, known as Kalae in the Hawaiian language is the southernmost point in not only Hawaii but the entire nation. The next land mass across the Pacific Ocean is Antarctica!

It is believed that this is where the first Polynesians arrived to the islands around 400 to 800 A.D.

My husband became a medical traveler, and I decided to put my career on hold to tag along. In the process, I found my roots again. What...
