Artist's Description

A colorful red and golden sunset is the background for this antique spectacles trade sign.

Trade signs like this were used by opticians and jewelry stores to advertise that they sold eyeglasses between 1875 to 1900. In the 1900s, a 24” sign spectacle sign would have cost $6.25. These eyeglass signs hung in front of businesses well into the 20th century.
