Description
A close-up image of Cherry blossoms during the peak bloom at the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC. I find it interesting how a single bunch of blossoms can grow from straight out from the tree trunk almost like a miniature bouquet.
One of Japan’s greatest treasures, the beautiful flowering cherry trees around the Tidal Basin and Potomac Park were gifted to the United States in the early 1900s as a token of friendship and to strengthen ties between the two nations.
Cherry blossoms first bloom as a white flower and as they age their petals become more and more pink before they eventually float from the trees like a springtime version of snow.
