Description
A close-up image of Cherry blossoms during the peak bloom at the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC.
One of Japan’s greatest treasures, the beautiful flowering cherry trees around the Tidal Basin and Potomac Park, was gifted to the United States in the early 1900s as a token of friendship and to strengthen ties between the two nations.
Cherry blossoms first bloom as white flowers, and as they age, their petals become pinker and pinker before they eventually float from the trees like a springtime version of snow.
