A Curve Billed Thrasher perches on an Agave plant at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico.
The Curve Billed Thrasher is a common bird in the American Southwest, but interestingly the Curve Billed Thrasher that lives in the Chihuahuan Desert looks different from the one that lives in the Sonoran Desert. The eastern bird has a lighter breast and more contrasting spots with pale wing bars and white tail corners. The western bird has a grayer breast and less obvious spots and inconspicuous wing bars and smaller, more greyish tail corners.
