Description
A breathtaking, expansive vista of Echo Park sprawls nearly 3,000 feet below, its beauty captured in a sweeping panorama. To the right, Echo Park Road meanders gracefully into the valley, weaving through the lush Pool Creek area and past the historic Chew Ranch. Sand Canyon unfurls its rugged charm on the left of this captivating image, leading to the majestic confluence where the Green and Yampa Rivers meet at Echo Park.
Just outside of Dinosaur, Colorado, the 31-mile Harpers Corner Road meanders through sagebrush-dotted plateaus on the Canyon side of Dinosaur National Monument. Numerous overlooks and trails along this route provide breathtaking river canyon vistas below.
Dinosaur National Monument, a hidden treasure among National Parks, is located on the southeastern edge of the Uinta Mountains, where the Green and Yampa Rivers converge. Spanning the border between Colorado and Utah, it was established in 1915 to protect the park's most popular attraction, the Dinosaur Quarry. Today, after its expansion in 1938 to encompass the area's rich natural history, a significant portion of the park is in Colorado. The park's rugged terrain, diverse topography, geological features, paleontological treasures, and rich historical significance make it a unique destination, offering a blend of scientific and recreational opportunities.
