Description
A wagon driving down Palace Green approaches the Everard House at the Colonial Williamsburg living-history museum.
The Everard House build in 1718 is one of the oldest original homes in the restored area of Williamsburg, Virginia. The home and property were purchased by Thomas Everard in the 1750s.
Thomas Everard was a wealthy planter and civic leader. He served as the mayor of Williamsburg two times from 1766 to 1767 and 1771 to 1772. Everard was the clerk of the York County court from 1745 until he died in 1781. He also was a deputy clerk of the General Court and clerk of the Secretary of the Colony's office.
