Artist's Description

The sun beams down overhead as the fog burns off the Ohio River at the Madison, Indian bridge. Just a few minutes longer, and it completely dissipated.

Part of the Ohio River Scenic Byway, the Madison-Milton Bridge, AKA Harrison Street Bridge, is US Route 421 crossing the Ohio River between Madison, Indiana, and Milton, Kentucky.

The first bridge was constructed in 1928-29 and was a 20-foot wide metal truss bridge. Built as a toll bridge, drivers, paid 45 cents and walkers 5 cents to cross it. In 1947 it finally became a free bridge.

In 2012-13, a new 40-foot wide bridge was assembled on barges and lifted into place on temporary piers before being slid onto the original ones. The new bridge won awards for its unique construction

My husband became a medical traveler, and I decided to put my career on hold to tag along. In the process, I found my roots again. What...
