Description
I can almost imagine Grandma Polly, as Pauline Chamberlain’s descendants still refer to her, rocking in this old rocking chair in the late afternoon Mississippi heat watching down the Natchez Trace for the arrival of her evening guest.
This image is from Mount Locust Inn and Plantation. It is the last remaining stand along the Natchez Trace. It is located near the end of the Trace at milepost #15.5 and was a popular stopping place for the Kaintucks since it was a days walk from Natchez and the last bit of civilization they would see for a while.
