Description
It was early morning at Gettysburg National Military Park, and after leaving the Visitors Center, we drove to Spangler’s Spring, where we pulled off and parked not far from the spring. After a cursory glance at the spring, my husband looks across the field, “Look at those rocks and that cute little cottage.”
We began slowly advancing on the cottage, shooting different compositions as we went. At this point, my husband says, “I wonder what it is.”
I sarcastically replied, “It’s probably an outhouse,” and we laughed.
Guess what? It really was the bathroom!
Spangler's Spring is said to be one of the most haunted spots on the battlefield. The land changed hands many times over the three-day battle. Many of the trees lining the woods and farmer's fields have been removed due to battlefield restoration.
The cute cottage/stone building is one of the Gettysburg National Military Park’s original bathrooms.
