Artist's Description

Hay bales are staggered across the field in front of a scenic old red barn near Thedford, Nebraska.

This type of farm scene is such a common sight along Nebraska’s Sandhills Journey National Scenic Byway. It takes a lot of hay to keep the cattle and the other animals fed on the ranches in the Sandhills. Baling hay takes place from May to late summer and in early fall.
