Description
The leaning water town in Groom, Texas, is a piece of Route 66 kitsch. It looks like it's ready to topple over. Doesn't it?
Ralph Britten owned the now gone Tower Fuel Stop. He mounted the water tower this way as an attention-getter to draw people into his truck stop. It was also his sign. Luckily, Ralph was also an engineer for the Army Corp of Engineers and knew what he was doing, or this water tower probably would have fallen by now. Unfortunately, the truck stop never opened back up after a fire, but the water tower remains.
