Looking down over Hannibal, Missouri, and the Mississippi River from Lover's Leap, the American Melody river cruise ship is at the dock.
The historic Mississippi River town of Hannibal, Missouri, is best known as the boyhood home of Samuel Clemens, AKA Mark Twain. Twain used his childhood memories of Hannibal as the inspiration for, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, loosely basing the characters on the town's people for his two fictional children's novels.
The popularity of Mark Twain's books put Hannibal on the map for heritage tourism, attracting visitors worldwide who grew up reading his stories. Visiting Hannibal is a walk in young Sam's footsteps. Many historic buildings remain, including his boyhood home, Becky Thatcher's house, Huckleberry Finn's house, J.M. Clemens Justice of the Peace Office, Grant's Drug Store, and Mark Twain's Cave.

As the 8th photographer in 4 generations of my family, I don't remember a time when photography was not part of my life. By the time I was five years old, I was standing on a stool in the darkroom, helping my dad develop pictures. It was my job to transfer the photos from the hypo to the water bath. I went to college for interior design. After I graduated, I had a long successful career as an art buyer and designer for a large home furnishings company. In 2006, I had a significant life change.
