Mount Rushmore National Memorial is illuminated by nighttime lights. The dark sky enhances the sculpture's magnificence, evoking a peaceful and patriotic ambiance.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial stands in the Black Hills near Keystone, South Dakota. This iconic sculpture showcases the carved granite faces of four notable United States presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Sculptor Gutzon Borglum envisioned this masterpiece, and with the help of his son Lincoln Borglum, they worked to bring it to life. Originally called the Shrine of Democracy, Borglum selected these four presidents to symbolize the nation's journey from its inception to its growth, development, and preservation. The project was sponsored by U.S. Senator Peter Norbeck from South Dakota, who secured federal funding for its construction in 1927.

As the 8th photographer in 4 generations of my family, I don't remember a time when photography was not part of my life. By the time I was five years old, I was standing on a stool in the darkroom, helping my dad develop pictures. It was my job to transfer the photos from the hypo to the water bath. I went to college for interior design. After I graduated, I had a long successful career as an art buyer and designer for a large home furnishings company. In 2006, I had a significant life change.
