Artist's Description

I was at Haleakala National Park, Maui, Hawaii, for the Perseid's Meteor Shower. It was a beautiful clear night at the summit, 10,023 feet above sea level. I managed to get completely distracted by this uniquely creative rock stack that was perched and teetering on the edge of the volcano pointing straight up into the heavens at the milky way. The light behind the cairn is the Big Island of Hawaii almost 30 miles away.

I went to college for interior design. After I graduated, I had a long successful career as an art buyer and designer for a large home furnishings company. In 2006, I had a significant life change. My husband became a medical traveler, and I decided to put my career on hold to tag along. In the process, I found my roots again. What...
