This is the covered bridge that was featured in the novel and movie, The Bridges of Madison County, making it the most popular of all the five remaining Madison County bridges. Roseman is the bridge Robert Kincaid seeks when he stops at Francesca Johnson’s home for directions. It is also where she leaves her note inviting him to dinner.
Roseman Covered Bridge also known as Oak Grover Bridge was one of the last two bridges built in Madison County. It was built in 1883 by Benton Jones, is 107 feet in length, and still sits in its original location. It cost just $2,930 to build and it carried traffic for almost a hundred years before it was bypassed by the bridge to the east in 1981.
