Description
An old Chevrolet El Camino is parked next to Brownlee Diner, also known as the Little Juarez Café in the Route 66 ghost town of Glenrio, Texas.
Constructed out of concrete blocks, Joseph Brownlee built the diner in 1952 in the Art Moderne/ Art Deco style, copying the look of the prefabricated Valentine Diners that were popular at the time.
Glenrio is a Route 66 ghost town on the Texas/New Mexico line. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005 as the Glenrio Historic District, it includes 16 structures and the Route 66 roadway.
