Description
The 300-year-old San Felipe De Neri Catholic Church in Old Town Albuquerque, New Mexico, was constructed in 1793.
This is the second church for the parish that has been active since 1706. The first church was on the west side of the Plaza facing east. Unfortunately, it collapsed in 1792 during a very wet summer.
Construction on the new and current church began the following year at this new location on the Plaza. The “folk” Gothic features, including the twin spires, were added between 1868 and 1890, giving it a European air.
