Artist's Description

A Brown Pelican stands on the edge of the dock at the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Brown Pelicans are large gray-brown birds with yellow heads and white necks. They live along southern and western sea coasts and are rarely seen inland. On the Pacific Coast, Brown Pelican adults have red skin on their throats in the breeding season.
