Artist's Description

Sunset from Raven Rock Overlook in the North Carolina High Country of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Boone and Blowing Rock. The clouds puddle around the mountains, creating little mountain islands in the sky while the sunset reflects on tops of the clouds.

A heavy rainstorm in the late afternoon beat down the haze created from the Saharan Dust we currently have in the atmosphere. I was a little worried that we might lose the breathtaking sunset that this dust is known for, but it was amazing!

Raven Rocks Overlook, known to be one of the best sunset locations in the Blue Ridge Mountains, is located at milepost 289.5 of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

My husband became a medical traveler, and I decided to put my career on hold to tag along. In the process, I found my roots again. What...
