Artist's Description

Located in Norfolk, Virginia, on the Freemason Harbor waterfront is this beautiful Pagoda surrounded by tranquil Oriental gardens. The two-story octagonal Pagoda sits on the old 500,000-gallon molasses storage tank's foundation and features colorful Chinese architectural details and ornamentation. The Taiwan Friendship Pavillion, also known as the Marine Observation Tower, was a gift from the Taiwan government in 1989 to Virginia and the City of Norfolk for honoring trade ties. Constructed in Taiwan and then shipped to Norfolk, Taiwanese artisans assembled it. Copyright 2020 Susan Rissi Tregoning
