Artist's Description

A sequence of three images, this little thief runs up and snatches the fish from the adult Least Tern in the first image. The adult makes the realization..."Hey, you aren't my kid."

In the second image, realizing this, he chases after the little chick trying to take the fish back.

Not seen, mom and dad intervene and chase off the other adult Least Tern.

In the third image, the little thief is enjoying his stolen breakfast while his parents stand guard over him. LOL, this little chick has survival skills!

Photographed on June 8, 2019, this image is from my second visit to the Least Tern Breeding Area on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The chicks are now ranging in age between 1 day and two weeks old.

My husband became a medical traveler, and I decided to put my career on hold to tag along. In the process, I found my roots again. What...
