Description
Looking down upon the Natchez-Vidalia Bridge over the Mississippi River at Natchez, Mississippi.
These two twin cantilever bridges cross the Mississippi River between Vidalia, Louisiana and Natchez, Mississippi. The Natchez-Vidalia Bridge are currently the tallest bridges in Mississippi.
The original bridge completed in October 1940 and has two 8-foot lanes. It lacks shoulders, and now carries all westbound traffic. The newer, eastbound bridge completed in 1988, has 11-foot lanes with inside and outside shoulders. Eastbound traffic is heavier, as that crossing goes into Natchez.
