The historic Motor Livery Stable sits at the edge of a narrow dirt road in rural Clayton County, Iowa. This beautiful old limestone barn dates back to the 1860s.
The town of Motor was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 as the Motor Mill Historic District. It includes five native limestone buildings: a Stable, Inn, Icehouse, Cooperage, and the Motor Mill. All the buildings date to the 1860s. Motor is part of Iowa's Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area.
