Artist's Description

We were in the middle of nowhere somewhere in the Southern West Virginia hills, trying to find a ghost town. After driving for almost an hour on a one-lane road, praying that we wouldn’t meet a car coming towards us, we finally pulled into a muddy spot where the road ended. We were either lost or had arrived. All I can say is, I quickly got squirreled by this iconic Volkswagen Type 2 Transporter that was the only other automobile there, and it had the dry spot!

The Volkswagen Type 2 (T1) was the first generation of Volkswagen's Transporter family and the best-selling van in history and is still being made by VW.

My husband became a medical traveler, and I decided to put my career on hold to tag along. In the process, I found my roots again. What...
