Artist's Description

Storm clouds roll in over the Great Falls of the Potomac.

Great Falls, located 14 miles upstream from Washington DC, can be viewed from both Virginia and Maryland. On the Virginia side of the Potomac is Great Falls National Park, and on the Maryland side, it is part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. Great Falls and the Potomac River are entirely within Maryland, with the boundaries following the south bank of the river.

This autumn view of the waterfall is from Maryland.
