Artist's Description

One of the most enduring themes for door knockers has been the lion’s head. Regarded as the king of beasts, the lion’s head symbolizes bravery, nobility, strength, and valor.

This lion's head door knocker was found on the front door of the first Abraham Lincoln Memorial located at his birthplace in Kentucky.
