Artist's Description

The Plum Island Lighthouse is located between the Door County Peninsula tip and Washington Island in Wisconsin. Originally known as Porte Des Morts, this lighthouse was responsible for guiding sailors' through the dangerous Deaths Door. Today everything is automated, the Plum Island light keepers house sits empty and the island is uninhabited but the Range lights still play an important role in guaranteeing safe passage to all that pass through Deaths Door.
