Artist's Description

The historic Poppleton Building at 1001 Farnam Street in the Old Market District of Omaha, Nebraska, was originally constructed for Omaha lawyer and politician AJ Poppleton in 1880. Poppleton used part of the building to house his law firm and leased out the rest of the building. Although, he never worked there himself.

The building, designed in the High Victorian Italianate style, has heavily bracketed cornices and a cast-iron storefront. It exemplifies the type of commercial buildings constructed in Omaha before the turn of the century.

The Poppleton Block was named a Nebraska Landmark in 1982 and later that same year listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

My husband became a medical traveler, and I decided to put my career on hold to tag along. In the process, I found my roots again. What...
