It was a spectacular red-orange sunrise at the Sandhill Crane roost on the Platte River.
The early spring gathering of the Sandhill Cranes on the Platte River is one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on the continent, with over a quarter of a million birds present at any one time. The day this image was captured from the VIP Blind at the Crane Trust, the weeks official count of Sandhill Cranes was 404,000. Crane Trust in located Wood River, Nebraska.

I'm a travel photographer that enjoys photographing United States architecture, nature, and transportation. As the 8th photographer in 4 generations of my family, I don't remember a time when photography was not part of my life. By the time I was five years old, I was standing on a stool in the darkroom, helping my dad develop pictures. It was my job to transfer the photos from the hypo to the water bath.
