At the edge of Roswell, New Mexico, on US 285, is a fun piece of roadside artwork by John Cerney. It is a family of aliens meeting a family of Roswell ranchers for the first time. The alien’s spaceship has broken down, and this friendly New Mexican family is trying to help them out. Mom is welcoming them with a fresh-baked pie while the Rancher’s son tries to give the flying saucer a jump start with his truck.
Since the sign was painted in 2013, the aliens have been stolen on several occasions, and the artist keeps replacing them. Only the bottom half of the littlest alien was there when I visited the site. I took the liberty of just removing him entirely from the photo, along with all the graffiti.
