Description
Great Lakes Towing Company’s tug boats, the North Carolina, Arkansas and Missouri are moored at Rice Point with the John A. Blatnik Bridge in the background.
Rice Point separates Duluth-Superior's outer from its inner harbor, and is a focal point of Duluth's industrial activity. The Blatnik Bridge connects Duluth, Minnesota with Superior, Wisconsin.
Also called the Twin Ports, Duluth-Superior became an international seaport in 1959. It is the world's most inland seaport, located 2340 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and 602 feet above sea level. Ships from all merchant nations visit the harbor.
