Description
Andy Warhol Bridge, one of the historical trio of almost identical suspension bridges known as the Three Sisters Bridges, crosses the Allegheny River in the heart of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
These bridges were constructed over four years, from 1924 to 1928, and are unique for being the first self-anchored bridges in the United States. Furthermore, they are the only surviving large eyebar chain suspension bridges in America and stand as distinctive due to their self-anchoring designs. The only set of nearly identical bridges in the US, these have been formally named after notable Pittsburgh residents: The Sixth Street Bridge is recognized as Roberto Clemente Bridge, Seventh Street Bridge as Andy Warhol Bridge, and Ninth Street Bridge as Rachel Carson Bridge.
