Description
A statue of Mister Rogers sits at the heart of the Omega overlooking Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, honoring the city's beloved native son, Fred McFeely Rogers.
Known to countless children as their cherished television companion, Mister Rogers he is remembered for his pioneering work in creating Mister Roger's Neighborhood (1968-2008). His unique blend of music composition, TV production, ministry, and child development was instrumental in helping children navigate their daily worries and emotions. Fred's legacy lies in his ability to make children feel positive about themselves and others while fostering an appreciation for the world. He was a beacon of compassion and kindness on children's television, embodying a commitment to prioritizing what is best for children.
After his passing, Cordelia May - a lifelong friend - decided to commemorate his work with a statue crafted by one of Fred’s favorite sculptors, Robert Berks. “Tribute to Children” stands as a testament to the enduring friendship between two remarkable humanitarians and underscores the importance of children in our society.
