The Parke County seat moved to Rockville, Indiana, in 1824. Since then, there have been three courthouses constructed on the town square. This is the third and present courthouse completed in 1882 in the Second Empire style.
Parke County, with 31 covered bridges, is the self-proclaimed Covered Bridge Capital of the World, and Rockville, with a population of around 2,600, is the largest town in the county.
